Reading Level: 3rd grade

Synopsis:  This book is a collection of animal poems.  The illustrator uses collage to depict the animals.

Classroom Rationale:  This book would be a great read aloud to introduce a poetry unit.  The poems have colorful language and vivid descriptions of animals.

CCSS.RL.2.4- Describe how words and phrases (e.g., regular beats, alliteration, rhymes, repeated lines) supply rhythm and meaning ina story, poem, or song.
